Eid Mubarak in KYSIS 2016!
It is the first day of Syawal and Muslims all around the world are celebrating Eid-al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy Islamic fasting month of Ramadan. It is also a time of feasts and fun, and not to forget, food! On the 25th of July 2016, a Raya celebration dinner was held for the KYSIS community. This event was held at our very own KYSIS Green Compound, with tables and chairs nicely decorated for the event.
The event began with a concise speech given by our KYSIS principal, Dr. Chia Keng Boon, and followed by a short speech about this Hari Raya celebration by Dr. John Snel, one of the teachers in KYSIS. After the speeches ended, the guests were entertained with a short montage of teachers in KYSIS wishing a ‘Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri Maaf Zahir dan Batin’ in their own unique accents.
The long-awaited eating session began soon, and the students and staffs of KYSIS were served with special Hari Raya delicacies including lemang, rendang ayam, nasi biryani, ayam biryani, lontong and a wide array of special Hari Raya sweets and cookies.
In between the eating session, the KYSIS community was entertained with two performances from a group of new KYSIS students who just began their first week as a part of the KYSIS community. The students presented an entertaining short sketch on the usual but unique Hari Raya traditions among various cultures in Malaysia and also an engaging modern dance performance.
To add to the festive feeling of the celebration, some students also had the opportunity to light up some sparklers and played with it merrily. Not to forget, the memories of this festive celebration were also immortalized in photos taken at our very own homemade and special festive-looking photo booth, decorated by our ever-creative and innovative dinner committee members.
All in all, the KYSIS Newsletter team wishes a job well done to this Raya Dinner committee for a properly-executed and entertaining dinner, and also a Happy Eid Mubarak to everyone. Here’s to more festive memories of Eid in KYSIS in the future.
